The Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare and Nursing with a professional focus on midwifery is divided up into two course phases. The first phase of the course is offered interlinked with vocational training.
The lessons at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz are organised in the first stage of the course as block sessions. During the first course phase, the vocational training contents are examined on a more in-depth basis and are expanded to include e.g. professionalism and identity, as well as an introduction to the reference disciplines (e.g. education, economics, ethics and psychology). In the second stage of the course, lessons start in the compulsory elective areas (clinical expertise, management and education).
Furthermore, students are also taught vocation-specific course contents, such as the care services of midwives with consideration to evidence-based-practice for midwives or body perception, body language and body work.
