Enrolment and semester fees
Enrolment takes place after arrival in Mainz on the induction day. All students (German and international) are required to pay a semester fee at this time, which is approximately 370€.
The semester fee is a contribution to cover the costs of social care, as well as the semester ticket covering the free use of public transport in the Rhine-Main region throughout the semester. This is not a tuition fee. Exchange students pay normal tuition and fees to their home institution as appropriate. They will not have to pay for tuition at CUAS Mainz. Students are responsible for travel costs, passport and visa, room and board, textbooks, health insurance and personal expenses including leisure travel.
Health Insurance
Every student in Germany must have health insurance, including exchange students.
If you are a European citizen, your national health insurance plan is usually recognized in Germany. Your national health insurance company issues your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
If your national health insurance plan is not recognized in Germany, you have to purchase an additional health insurance for studying in Germany. You can purchase either a public German insurance plan or a private insurance plan. Please note that a valid health insurance plan is mandatory for your visa/residence permit.
As soon as you are admitted, please notify your health insurance company by stating our university number 52733425 or alternatively the number H0002422 that you will be enrolled at CUAS Mainz from 01.03. (summer semester) or from 01.09. (winter semester).
You can find further information on health insurance on the German Academic Exchange Service’s website.
Visa
Please inform yourself as early as possible at the German embassy or consulate in your country whether you need a visa to enter Germany for the purpose of studying or whether you only need to apply for a residence permit here after your entry. Please also find out there which documents you exactly need and prepare them carefully.
